Jamie is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer deeply inspired by biophilia, the natural world, and creative approaches to wellbeing. He’s also the owner of The Island.
He’s been tattooing for many years now and treats his practice as a fine art, exploring how tattoos can connect people in varied ways, and the stories and concepts that can be told through the art on our bodies.
Jamie loves working with natural textures – such as wood or rock – and creating collage-like layouts involving abstract elements, realism and geometry. He loves tailoring these pieces both to suit and transform the body.
Jamie has worked in studios in the UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Bali, developing his signature blend of natural textures, Sci-Fi themes and abstract/surrealist art.
In addition to tattooing, Jamie is developing his interest in the philosophy and practice of biophilic design – how we can re-imagine the urban spaces we live in to be more positive for our mental health, and to re-connect us with nature. In the future he plans to open a nature-infused tattoo/retreat space in the Scottish Highlands.
In his spare time Jamie loves rock climbing, hiking, surfing, cooking, travel and reading :-)
