Suzie originally trained in fine art and now brings a painter’s perspective to her tattoo designs. One of the things she finds most inspiring about tattooing is that the art isn’t confined to a gallery, but becomes part of people’s everyday lives and environment.
Suzie often begins her design work with the automatic drawing technique developed by surrealist artists, allowing the conscious mind to drift so that the unconscious can take the lead. Her work often combines nature and botanicals with surrealism, mixing and balancing the disparate elements into a unified, expressive whole.
Suzie moved from the south of England to start her apprenticeship at The Island at the beginning of 2023. When she’s not designing or tattooing, Suzie’s interests include Art History, anime, plants, pottery, playing the ukulele and all things creative.
